  • ½ cup shortening
  • 4 Tablespoons cold water

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the shortening into the flour until it resembles a crumb-like texture.
  3. Use your hands to work with the dough until it becomes soft.
  4. Form the dough into a ball.
  5. Press the dough into an 8-inch pie pan. Press the dough evenly across the bottom and sides of the pan, using a spoon or your fingers.
  6. Decorate the edges as desired.
  7. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork. This prevents the pie crust from buckling during baking.
